There were some big winners in the West Cumberland Sunday League’s opening President’s Cup ties.
Reigning Premier Division champions Deer Orchard led the way with a 10-1 win at The Sun.
Luke Ivison (2), Troy Patterson (2), Oscar Pickering (2), Jayden Fulton (2), Ryan Gorley and Sam Wright supplied the goals.
Not far behind were current Premier Division leaders Northside who beat the Zebras 8-0.
Finding the back of the net were Jayden Scott (2), Tyler Harrel, Niall Melton, Chad Grisdale, Kyle Davis, Ethan Heron and Owen Birkett.
Two other sides scored seven goals apiece as they made Cup progress.
Both finished 7-1 – to Senhouse Street against Royal Oak and to Lowca Pirates against Sun Inn Athletic.
Antony Zajac (2), Gary O’Driscoll, Chris Williamson, Jack White, James Shaw and Charlie Shaw were on target for Senhouse Street. Daniel Slack scored Royal Oak’s consolation.
A hat-trick from Travis Fyfe led the way for the Pirates, whose other goals came from Aaron Wynd (2), Owen Woodburn and Oliver Todd.
Matt Hornsby replied for Athletic.
There’s no stopping veteran Steven Stoddart, equally at home with a round ball or the oval variety.
He grabbed four for Maryport Amateurs in their 5-1 win over Mirehouse. Adam Tinnion netted the other while Cyran Corlett scored for the Juniors.
