A South Cumbrian hospice’s furniture warehouse has been broken into.
St Mary’s Hospice said its warehouse in Barrow was targeted by thieves over the weekend.
A spokesman said: “It is disappointing that someone felt it was acceptable to target a charity that exists solely to support the local community.
“Thanks to our robust internal security measures, no cash or items were taken and we have continued to operate as normal.
“Our team responded to the situation exceptionally well and we are grateful for their professionalism and calm handling of the incident.
“We are also working with the police regarding the matter.”
