People can help choose the species of trees to be planted in a Carlisle park as part of a £2.6 million revamp.
The cash, part of the Carlisle Town Deal, will see Hammond’s Pond enter a new chapter, say its architects Cumberland Council.
The Start with the Park aims to transform Hammond’s Pond, creating new walking and cycling routes, upgrading play facilities such as the newly completed multi-use games area, and a skate park, improving footpaths and drainage, and enhancing connections to Eden Valley Hospice.
Part of the scheme will see 300 new trees planted in the park and Cumberland Council wants people to help it choose the species.
The trees will be planted at the Blackwell Road entrance and around the multi-use games area.
There will also be opportunities for residents to get involved in the tree planting.
