Two people will appear in court later today following an incident in Workington which prompted an armed police response.

The pair were arrested after officers were called to an address on Windsor Road at 11pm on Saturday.

Connor Cordin, 26, and 28-year-old Lauren Weaver have both been charged.

Cordin, of Borrowdale Road, Whitehaven, and Weaver, of Windsor Road, Workington, stand jointly charged with aggravated burglary.

It is alleged that on Saturday they entered an address in Workington as trespassers with intent to inflict grievous bodily harm on a person; and that at the time of the incident they were in possession of a kitchen knife.

Cordin faces two additional charges. One alleges affray on October 4. A second alleges common assault on a woman in a separate alleged incident on June 11 this year.

The pair are due to appear in front of a district judge at Carlisle later today.
