Clarke Chambers and Karl Garner

Two of Whitehaven’s recruits from the amateur ranks a year ago are leaving the club.

Haven have confirmed the departure of Clarke Chambers and Karl Garner following the completion of the 2025 season.

The duo, who stepped up from NCL side Kells, will both leave the Ortus Rec after one season with the club.

Chambers made six appearances in the Chocolate, Blue and Gold making his debut in the preliminary round of the 1895 Cup vs Midlands.

Garner made five appearances in Haven colours also making his debut in the 1895 cup meeting away to Midlands.

Following Clarke’s injury, picked-up towards the end of the campaign while on dual registration. Whitehaven will be helping him with his rehab and recovery until completion.

Head coach Anthony Murray said: “As we prepare for the new season, we’d like to thank Clark and Karl, who have both decided not to take up a new contract for the upcoming campaign.

“Both players have been committed, hard-working, and valued members of the squad, and we’re extremely grateful for their efforts and professionalism throughout their time with us.

“On behalf of the coaching team and everyone at the club, I want to wish them both all the very best for the future — on and off the field.

“Both players have played a vital role in the squad and all at the Ortus Rec wish them well in the future after their decisions not to sign new contracts.”
