A Cumbrian youth football team is supporting the work of the Motor Neurone Disease Association.
Dalston Junior Black Reds U15 Blacks will feature the association’s logo on their shirts this season to help raise awareness of Motor Neurone Disease and the vital work being done to support those affected.
The partnership is a show of solidarity with local dairy farmer Richard Messenger, currently living with Motor Neurone Disease.
By wearing the MND Association logo, the team hopes to bring greater visibility to the charity and encourage more people in the community to learn about the support available to individuals and families affected by MND.
U15 Blacks manager Simon Schofield said: “As a team, we felt it was important to show our support for something that’s touched our community.
“A close friend of several of our players’ parents is living with Motor Neurone Disease, so supporting the MND Association means a great deal to us.
“By proudly wearing the MND Association logo on our sleeves, we hope to raise awareness and help shine a light on the incredible work being done to support those affected by this devastating disease.”
Dalston Junior Black Reds FC is based in Dalston, near Carlisle. Its teams range from the Dalston Diddy (Under 6s) to the Under-16s in the youth section. The club is also linked with two men’s teams.
