The manufacture of tyres at Pirelli’s Carlisle factory will stop this weekend for a week as the company deals with prevailing market conditions.
The company’s Burton-on-Trent plant will stop production for six days from today with the sister plant in Cumbria pausing from October 26 to October 31.
In a statement Pirelli UK told Business Crack: “This pause in activity is to align output with prevailing market conditions.
“This is a temporary measure and the company remains fully committed to its UK operations.
“Pirelli continues to invest in its local manufacturing and recognises the strategic value of the UK market within its global footprint.”
The news comes as the UK’s automotive industry battles to return to normal after a series of setbacks including the negotiation of export agreements and a cyber attack.
Earlier this month Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) confirmed the effect disruption of technology had on production.
From the start of September the company responded to a cyber incident which shut down production. JLR will report its full financial results for Q2 FY26 in November 2025.
