A Carlisle man accused of burgling a city home is to have his case heard by a judge.
Mark Anthony William Perrett, 44, faces three charges arising out of two separate incidents which are said to have happened on Sunday, October 26.
One charge alleges burglary and that Perrett entered a man’s home on Vasey Crescent — close to Greystone Road — as a trespasser with intent to steal.
At Carlisle Magistrates’ Court, the prosecution alleged that the householder woke to find Perrett standing over him at around 7.15am.
Perrett was said to have left the address on a bicycle.
Perrett faces two other charges. One alleges the common assault of a woman at the Foreways store, Warwick Road, where an object was said to have been thrown. The other alleges that Perrett tried to steal ice cream and drinks from the shop.
During a short hearing in front of a deputy district judge, the defendant pleaded not guilty to all three allegations, and elected to have his case heard at Carlisle Crown Court.
Perrett, of Borland Avenue, Carlisle, is due to appear there for a plea and trial preparation hearing on November 24.
In the meantime he has been remanded in custody.
