
The start of the President’s Cup in the West Cumberland Sunday League produced a feast of goals.
Five ties saw 44 goals scored in total.
Moresby Rangers and Senhouse Street Club both hit nine while Deer Orchard (7) and Dearham Commercial (6) also enjoyed themselves in front of goal.
Moresby beat the Sun Inn 9-4 with goals from Sam Stones (3), Rhys Singleton (2), Taylor Richardson, Taylor Hambling, Brett Smith and Aaron Hart.
The Aspatria side didn’t lie down without a fight as both Shaun Smith and Richard Hudson scored a brace apiece.
Senhouse Street Club hit nine against King’s Arms through Grant Quayle (4), Gary O’Driscoll (2), Charlie Shaw, Ant Zajac and Paul Brown.
Deer Orchard travelled to Maryport Amateurs and went home with a 7-3 win.
Oscar Pickering (2), Troy Patterson (2), Louis Pickering, Ben Greaves and Jayden Fulton were on target for Orchard.
Shay Goodfellow, Lewis Mattinson and Lewis Moore replied for Maryport.
Dearham Commercial were 6-2 winners at home to the Swan.
Ciaran Laverty (2), Alfie Green, Jack Dunstan, Macauley Sharp and Jack Walsh scored for Dearham with Iestyn Hughes and Shaun Patterson replying for the Ellenborough side.
Closest game was probably at Lowca where the Pirates went down 3-0 to Northside.
Needless to say Tommy Whitehead was on target again with a hat-trick.
There was one Premier Division game in which the Sun beat Thornhill 5-1.
Keenan Mackay led the way with a hat-trick and also on target were Owen Fearon and Bradley Barwise.
Bobby Fitzpatrick netted for Thornhill.
There was also a Division One game which saw Workington Falcons win 5-0 at Sun Inn Athletic.
Jonny Cash (2), Dave Watson, Adam Novak and Jack Burns were the goal scorers.
