Four players will be leaving Barrow Raiders and not returning for the 2026 season.
The Raiders have confirmed the departures and announced they remain in negotiations with other members of the first team squad.
Leaving the club are Delaine Gittens-Bedward, James Greenwood, Aaron Smith and Tom Wilkinson following the expiry of their respective deals.
Gittens-Bedward has spent the last two seasons with the club.
He has combined his on-field duties with a role in the Advantage! Barrow Raiders Community Foundation where he has played a key role in the club’s delivery of various initiatives across the local area.
The front-rower featured 18 times in all competitions and also earned a call-up to the Jamaica national team during his time representing the Raiders.
Second-rower Greenwood joined the club back in October 2024 and featured 37 times across two seasons.
Former Betfred Super League Grand Final winner Smith has also spent two seasons with the club, having joined ahead of the 2024 campaign from Leigh Leopards.
In total, the hooker represented the Raiders 34 times, with 16 starts and 18 appearances off the bench.
Loose forward Wilkinson, who first stepped up from local amateur side Ulverston midway through the 2023 season, went on to make 44 appearances for his hometown club.
All four players leave with the club’s very best wishes for the future.
Barrow Raiders director of rugby Andy Gaffney said: “As with any club, player departures are part and parcel of an off-season, and all four lads who are leaving can be mightily proud of their contribution to this club.
“In order to refresh the squad heading into 2026 and provide head coach Paul Crarey with the tools he needs to challenge at the right end of the division, departures are unfortunately inevitable.
“Delaine, James, Aaron and Tom have been a pleasure to deal with throughout their time with the club, and we wish them well for whatever comes next.”
