A bid for 157 new homes in Carlisle have been revealed by a Cumbrian housebuilder.
Genesis Homes, headquartered in Penrith, said it had submitted a planning application for the development, called The Woodlands.
The estate is earmarked for land opposite the city’s Carleton Clinic in Garlands.
If it is approved, the company hopes work will start early next year.
The company said the estate would include 20 per cent designated affordable homes and it would refurbish Cumberland House, formerly used by the NHS as offices, as part of its proposals.
It added it would undertake energy-efficient construction and each home would feature EV chargers and solar panels.
John Blue, land director at Genesis Homes, said: “The Woodlands is a landmark development for Genesis Homes in Carlisle, not just because of the scale of the housing being delivered, but because of the wider benefits it will bring.
“From affordable housing and improved green spaces to the refurbishment of Cumberland House, this concept represents our commitment to building for the future in a way that supports both people and place.
“We are excited by the potential of The Woodlands to play a key role in Carlisle’s growth story.”
It has lodged plans with Cumberland Council for the development.
