Two Cumbrian towns are in the running to be named the UK’s most dog friendly.
Cockermouth and Keswick are finalists in the DogFriendly Awards town/city category, along with Bury St Edmunds.
Winners, chosen by public vote, will be announced on November 20 in London.
The DogFriendly Awards recognise and reward dog friendly places and pet businesses that go the extra mile for the benefit of the UK’s 12.5 million dogs and their owners.
In Cockermouth, the entry was made by the town’s chamber of trade.
Joe Murray, co-chair of the chamber, said: “We are chuffed to bits to make the finals of this competition and we can’t wait to travel to London for the awards ceremony.
“We know we are up against some tough competition. Keswick has a great reputation for welcoming dogs and Bury St Edmunds won the title in 2024 but we hope we have a strong chance.
“Whatever the outcome, I hope that this nomination really raises the profile of Cockermouth. We know this is a brilliant place to live, work and visit – and your dogs can do that too!”
