A Cumbrian charity is creating a pop-up shop to help raise funds for its new kennels for rescued dogs.

Langwathby Village Hall will be transformed into a huge pop-up shop for Eden Animal Rescue on Saturday, November 15.

And there will be a special guest of honour at the pop-up shop, Meg, who was a rescue dog living at Eden Animal Rescue.

Meg is celebrating her second anniversary of being rehomed by Alan King, a volunteer for the charity.

At the pop-up shop volunteers will sell new and pre-loved pet equipment and toys, plus books, cards, gifts, cakes and home produce. There will be a tombola and an opportunity to buy tickets for the Christmas raffle.

Light refreshments will also be available, all raising funds for the charity’s new kennel block.

The new kennel block, which provides accommodation and facilities far superior to the previous building, was completed at the beginning of the year and officially opened by Westmorland & Lonsdale MP Tim Farron on May 31.

The charity has plans to convert the old kennels into an indoor exercise area and provide a new reception and staff area.

The project aims to use existing materials onsite and the support of volunteers, and is making a DIY SOS-style appeal for additional materials and the services of qualified electricians and plumbers. For more details, contact Eden Animal Rescue Centre.

There are still opportunities to sponsor an individual kennel and have your family or business name displayed for visitors to see the support you have given to this project.

The new 20 kennels have improved facilities for the welfare of the dogs that stay at the charity’s Centre at Moorlands Head Farm, in Newbiggin, Temple Sowerby.

Eden Animal trustee Fran Flower said: “The pop-up shop will provide a great opportunity to do some Christmas shopping, and will give pet owners the ideal place to buy their pets the ideal gift, as well as other items, and help raise funds for less fortunate dogs.

“Meg is a great example of how dogs who come to stay with us can find a loving home for life with a new owner.

“It is vital that we keep on raising funds to complete the project to provide the best facilities for the dogs who come to stay with us. Every penny spent at the one-day-only, pop-up shop will go to the Eden Animal Rescue Kennel Project.”

Eden Animal Rescue’s Kennel Project fundraising pop-up shop will be open at Langwathby Village Hall from 10.30am to 2pm on Saturday, November 15.

For more information or to donate to the project, contact Eden Animal Rescue by emailing [email protected]  or call 01768 88469.
