
Update – November 14 2025
It appears the majority of schools will reopen but please check with your school for its decision.
Schools closed today, Friday November 14, include:
- St Bridget’s School, Cockermouth, will remain closed until further notice.
- Blennerhasset School – it will liaise with the local authority to assess water damage. It aims to reopen on Monday, November 17.
- Wigton Nursery and Infant School will reopen on Monday, November 17.

November 13 2025
Several schools across Cumbria are closing today due to flooding.
The county is facing widespread floods and The Met Office has issued a yellow warning for heavy rain until 11am today, Thursday November 13.
Cumbria Crack is aware that schools which will be closed include:

- Boltons CofE School
- Bowness-on-Solway Primary School
- Great Orton Primary School
- Holm Cultram Abbey CofE Primary School

- Nelson Thomlinson School
- Netherhall School
- Plumbland CofE School
- Richmond Hill School
- Rosley CofE School
- Silloth Primary School
- Solway Community School
- St Josephs Catholic High School
- St Matthew’s CofE School
- Thomlinson Junior School
- Wiggonby CofE School
- Wigton Nursery and Infant School
- The Richard Rose Morton Academy – partial closure for students in Year 7, Year 8 and Year 9. The school will remain open for Year 10 and 11. Students should not enter from the Queensway entrance.
Westmorland
- Beaconside CofE Primary School
