
Firefighters attended an incident in Egremont.
Cumbria Police supported fire crews while they attended a fire in a building on the town’s Main Street.

A witness said a takeaway building appeared to be on fire. Four fire engines and two police cars attended.
The witness added that smoke appeared to be coming from a top window of the takeaway building.

Crews and multiple fire engines were also in place at the back of the building.

Nobody is believed to have been injured.
The road was closed to allow firefighters to work safely and has now reopened as of 7.38pm this evening.
Cumbria Fire & Rescue Service said: “Firefighters worked tirelessly for more than four hours to extinguish a fire in a commercial food takeaway shop on Main Street, Egremont on Saturday.
“Cumbria Fire & Rescue Service was mobilised at 4.12pm, with four fire engines from Workington, Whitehaven, Egremont and Maryport attending and firefighters using a covering jet, two hose reel jets and two breathing apparatus to extinguish the fire.”
