Flying start to winter series for Flimby pigeon fancier

Alan Bromley of Flimby has made a flying start to the winter series of pigeon shows in West Cumbria.

After winning his own club show on Wednesday night he was successful, with the same pigeons, at Workington Victoria’s opener last night.

The dark cock caught the eye of both judges and over the two shows he won £200.

Ray Duffielkd judged 84 entries for the old cocks class at Flimby while John McNichol had to cast his eye over 60 at the Workington Victoria show.

Flimby HS: 1, 4, 8, Bromley and co (nom); 2, McLuckie bros; 3, Williams and Hadfield; 5, Hodgson and Saldert; 6, Berwick and Watson; 7, Varty, son and grandson.

Workington Victoria: 1, Bromley and co (nom); 2, Dolan and daughter; 3, Williams and Hadfield; 4, 6, Evans and Abraham; 5, Mr and Mrs Walters and son; 7, Varty, son and grandson; 8, McLuckie bros.Next week both clubs will stage shows for old hen – Flimby on Wednesday, Workington Victoria on Friday – with judging for both at 7-30pm
