A Lake District luxury hotel has won a prestigious award.
The Good Hotel Guide Cesar Awards – dubbed the Oscars of hotel keeping – are bestowed on the best venues around the country.
Gilpin Hotel and Lake House in Windermere, was among 21 winners for 2026 and was named best in the North.
The guide said: “Lakeland luxury at its finest comes courtesy of Gilpin, with its Michelin-starred dining, private hot tubs in the majority of its indulgent rooms and attentive staff.
“Its flagship rooms are extravagantly large glass-cube spa suites that extend over a pond and offer private garden, spa room and circular bath.”
Thomas Ferrante, general manager at Gilpin Hotel & Lake House, said: “We are truly honoured to be named Best in the North in the annual Good Hotel Guide César Awards, a widely respected platform known for its honest and independent reviews of the UK’s finest hotels.
“This recognition means a lot to us, not only because of the company we are in, but because it reflects the dedication of our wonderful team.
“At Gilpin, we’re fortunate to have passionate people who understand what makes this place so special.
“Luxury, to us, should always feel personal – we want guests to feel welcomed, relaxed and looked after, as though they are staying with family rather than visiting a hotel.
“Whether guests are enjoying a Michelin-starred meal at Source, unwinding in Spa Space or taking a quiet moment in one of our private hot tubs, our aim is to create experiences that feel unique, thoughtful and unforgettable.
“This award reinforces our commitment to offering exceptional hospitality in the heart of the beautiful Lake District.”
