Award winners at Town Ladies presentation night.

Workington Town Ladies celebrated their season with a presentation evening in a packed marquee at the Fibrus Community Stadium.

It was a sad occasion, too, as head coach Steve Caton and captain Juliet Porter were saying their goodbyes to the team they’d help become an important part of Town’s recent history.

Porter is moving back to her native Cheshire to focus on work at Warrington while Caton is stepping back to give more time to his family.

An emotional night had started with a video tracing Steve, and Jon Roper’s time with the women’s team from 2022 and was followed by the presentation of awards.

A former Town favourite and ex-coach in Martin Oglanby was the special guest to present the awards with Steve Caton, Gareth Nicholson and David Eccleston also assisting.

Sophie Price, who has shone throughout the season punching well above her weight was well rewarded with the accolades of the Young Player of the Year and the Woman of Steel.

Josie Scrimgour also picked up two awards as the speedster claimed top try scorer as well as the biggest award of the evening, the coveted Players’ Player of the season, voted for by her peers.

Scrimgour was later named one of the vice captains for 2026 alongside powerhouse Georgia Naylor.

Lauren Coulson was awarded Moment of the Season for a last-play victory against Halifax as the Cockermouth native managed to snatch victory from Amy Hardcastle’s side in a mud bath in Yorkshire.

The Most Improved member of the squad was awarded to Kayleigh-Robinson Murray who has been getting better and better.

She managed a try in a second half demolition at Fryston Warriors which again was richly deserved.

Club Person of the Year was awarded to Jeanette Fearon and Shakayla Okesene for a variety of reasons as both have been influential to the team’s cause following injury lay-offs.

The last two awards of Coaches’ Player and the Sue Grimley Award went to Beth Adams and Meagan Byers respectively for their efforts during the 2025 season.

The presentations ended with Alex Price being named the new strength and conditioning coach.

Beth Adams was announced as the new club captain.
