
A total of 16 arrests have been made as part of an investigation into alleged illegal foxhunting in the Lake District
It comes as enquiries continue following an incident believed to have happened during a meet on Saturday November 8 in the Ambleside area involving the Coniston Foxhounds and Teme Valley Hunt.
Cumbria Constabulary, assisted by Dyfed-Powys Police, made four more arrests in the Powys area of Wales yesterday.
Three men and one woman were arrested on suspicion of causing unnecessary suffering to a protected animal.
Two of the men have been released on bail while enquiries continue. The woman was released under investigation. The other man was released with no further action.
It brings the overall total of arrests made in the investigation to 16.
Chief Inspector Lee Skelton, of Cumbria police, said: “Our enquiries remain very much ongoing in this case and robust action continues to be taken.
“I would use this opportunity to once again encourage anyone who has information that may assist us to make contact.”
