Georgie Kelly kept Carlisle United in pursuit of National League leaders Rochdale with a double strike in their 2-1 win over Tamworth.
The Blues are level on points with the Spotland side but from two more games, while they have York City, Forest Green and Boreham Wood breathing down their necks.
Kelly’s opener on 25 minutes gave Carlisle the lead as he followed up a shot from Chris Conn-Clarke which had been parried by keeper Jinbar Singh. He reacted quickest to get there and fire in the loose ball.
The visitors drew level after 38 minutes when Jordan Ponticelli got to a cross from Ronan Maher and a flicked header found the far corner of the net.
It stayed all square until the 79th minute when Kelly grabbed the winner, getting in beyond the far post to hammer home a cross from Regan Linney.
It finished 2-1 – the same score as it was 21 years ago the last time these sides met at Brunton Park in the National (Conference) League.
This one was watched by a crowd of 6,763 who once again went away happy with three more points to the collection.
