The Coptic Orthodox Archbishop of London will visit Cartmel Priory this weekend.
His Eminence Archbishop Angaelos will speak at the priory on Saturday, December 13 at 10.30am.
It will be a rare opportunity to hear from one of the most respected voices in international advocacy and pastoral leadership.
He was enthroned as the first optic Orthodox Archbishop of London in 2017, having served as General Bishop of the Coptic Orthodox Church in the UK since 1999.
Archbishop Angaelos is widely recognised for his commitment to strengthening understanding, championing human dignity, and supporting communities around the world.
He is president of Churches Together in England.
In 2019 he founded Refcemi, the Coptic Orthodox Office for Advocacy and Public Policy, which addresses a broad range of global issues, particularly the protection of Freedom of Religion or Belief.
Its name, taken from the Coptic word for ‘advocate’, reflects the Archbishop’s dedication to service and principled leadership.
The Rev Nick Devenish, vicar of Cartmel Priory, said: “It is a privilege to welcome His Eminence to Cartmel Priory.
“His work, marked by clarity, compassion, and a profound commitment to reconciliation, speaks directly to the challenges of our time. We hope many will join us to hear his message and share in this significant occasion.”
Everyone is welcome to the event, which starts at 10.30am.
