A driving instructor was fined for contravening a stop sign at the M6.
They were one of two drivers fined two drivers within 30 minutes at the junction yesterday.
Officers said they were regularly told of concerns about Junction 37 at Killington Interchange and South Lakes Police targeted the junction.
South Lakes Police said: “In the space of around 30 minutes, two traffic offence reports were issued – both for contravening a stop sign.
“£100 and three penalty points for each offender. One was a visiting sales rep and the other a local driving instructor.
“Stop signs are not optional, they are present to reduce collisions, encourage drivers to take stock of their surroundings and to keep all road users safe.
“It is no defence to suggest that ‘slowing a bit’ or ‘no other traffic close by’ is sufficient to not bring your vehicle to a complete stop.
“We’ll be back again very soon. If you are a regular user of the junction please ensure you are adhering to the requirements of the road.”
