A Cumbrian estate agents has shown its support for young people facing homelessness by making a donation to a Carlisle charity.
Fine & Country Cumbria has donated a combined total of £3,300 and food items from a recent collection to Carlisle Key, a charity which provides help to those aged between 16 and 25 who are currently homeless or at risk of homelessness.
The charity runs a drop-in and housing service aimed to alleviate the hardship and distress caused by homelessness, housing, financial and other difficulties.
The donation was made up of a £2,000 grant from the Fine & Country Foundation, which operates nationwide and £1,300 from Fine & Country Cumbria which donated £100 from each home sale to the cause.
Diana Vlad, CEO of Carlisle Key, said: “Thanks to the support from Fine & Country, we can strengthen our drop-in centre and reach more young people who need a safe place, practical help and a listening ear.
“With Christmas being a particularly difficult time for many, this support is more important than ever. This funding will have a lasting impact on the lives of those we support.”
Carlisle Key empowers young people by giving them the knowledge, support and confidence they need to live independently and take on an active role in their local community.
The team provides services including housing advice, money management skills, computer and telephone access, counselling support and practical supplies.
The Fine & Country Foundation has raised and donated over £1 million since its inception in 2014 and holds annual grant schemes in spring and autumn.
Rosie Cemmick, sales negotiator at Fine & Country Cumbria and a Fine & Country Foundation ambassador, said: “Fine & Country is committed to reducing homelessness throughout the UK, and we are very pleased to be able to help such a fantastic organisation like Carlisle Key, which works with young people on our doorstep.”
