Medals similar to these were taken in the Barrow burglary

Military medals and cash were stolen in a Barrow burglary.

The incident happened on Mulberry Way on Tuesday, December 23 and is believed to have taken place between 10am and 7.30pm.

Burglars broke in and stole a General Service Medal for Northern Ireland and Iraq War Medal and cash.

Police are appealing for anyone who may have seen the medals for sale to come forward.

Detective Sergeant Darren Henderson, Barrow CID, said: “These items hold significant sentimental value, and we want to see them returned to their rightful owner and bring the offender or offenders to justice.

“If you think you might have been offered them for sale or know who could be responsible for taking them, please contact us immediately.

“I would also appeal to antique dealers or medal specialists; if you have been offered any of these medals, or if anybody has recently purchased a medal and you do not know where they have come from, please get in touch with us.”

Anyone with information about the incident or who may be responsible, contact police on www.cumbria.police.uk/report-it quoting log number 208 of 23 December or call 101.

Alternatively, contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 800 555 111.
