A new fully funded project will launch in West Cumbria offering women a supportive and confidence-building pathway back into employment or self-employment.
The three-day Thriving Women group programme, which starts next month, is designed for women who are currently not in work and ready to reconnect with their strengths, rebuild confidence, and explore what they truly want from their working lives.
The programme previously ran in January 2025 and organisers said many participants moved into employment or training as a direct result of taking part.
Delivered by Lakeland Wellbeing CIC, it added that the Thriving Women Project did not rely on PowerPoint presentations or classroom-style learning. Instead, it offered an inclusive environment where women can explore their goals, work through personal barriers, and build self-belief through guided exercises, practical tools, discussion, and shared experience.
The programme is fully funded by Cumbria Community Fund and is open to women living in West Cumbria who are currently unemployed and able to commit to all three days.
The programme starts in Whitehaven on January 20 and in Cleator Moor on March 17.
Refreshments and lunch are provided and 12 places are available.
Participants will also receive three one-to-one coaching sessions, tailored to individual needs and a graduation empowerment event.
Lakeland Wellbeing CIC is a community interest company dedicated to supporting wellbeing, empowerment, and resilience across Cumbria.
The programme is facilitated by Jen Maxwell, an experienced empowerment coach and director of Lakeland Wellbeing CIC.
