A 17-year-old and a 16-year-old have been arrested after reports of illegal dirt bikes being driven dangerously in Carlisle.

Police said officers received reports that three illegal electric dirt bikes were ridden dangerously on London Road in Carlisle and in the Harraby area on Monday December 29 from 5pm.

The riders were described as wearing balaclavas with no protective personal equipment.

Police said a 17-year-old boy from Carlisle was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving, driving with no insurance, driving with no licence and failing a roadside sample for cannabis.

The illegal electric dirt bike they were riding has been seized. They have been released from custody on bail.

A 16-year-old boy from Carlisle was arrested for obstructing a police officer. They have been released under investigation.

Police are keen for any person with dash cam or CCTV of the riders to come forward.
