Police are investigating a single vehicle collision in the Lake District – and officers said they were concerned about the people involved.

The collision happened on Kendal Road, Bowness-on-Windermere at around 9.50pm yesterday, January 1.

It was reported two people were seen to leave the vehicle, a black Audi, after the collision and leave the scene.

The driver, a man with a shaved head and wearing a blue Stone Island jumper, had visible injuries to his head, and a passenger, a woman in black jeans, a white shirt and bare feet, both left in the direction of Bowness village.

Officers are appealing for anyone who was in the area at the time of the collision, or who has any information that may assist officers in identifying the occupants of the vehicle, to come forward.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police via www.cumbria.police.uk/report-it quoting log number 212 of 1 January 2026 or call 101.

If the occupants of the vehicle see this appeal, they are asked to contact police urgently.
