A 29-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a pedestrian was struck by a van in Carlisle.
Police said the victim, a man in his 30s, remains in a critical but stable condition in hospital.
Emergency services were called to Prescott Road yesterday, Sunday January 3.
The van involved has also been recovered, Cumbria Constabulary said.
Detectives are continuing to appeal for anyone with any information to come forward.
Officers said they were particularly keen for anyone who was in the Prescott Road area, and surrounding areas, at the time of the incident to check any CCTV, dashcam or doorbell footage which may be relevant to the investigation.
Anyone with information is asked to contact police via 101.
Residents may see an increased police presence in the area while officers conduct enquiries, the force added.
