Violence and anti-social behaviour has resulted in a closure order issued for a Barrow home.

The town’s Neighbourhood Policing Team said they acted on concerns raised by local residents and secured the order for a property on Ship Street.

Police were granted the closure order at South Cumbria Magistrates Court today, January 5.

The closure followed a number of reports and concerns from residents relating to anti-social behaviour, violence and drug use at the property.

The property has been secured, and the closure has been granted for three months.

Anyone, other than police or the landlord, found inside the address can be arrested for breach of closure order.

PC Rich Herron, of Barrow Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: “I am pleased the courts have granted this closure order and hope this will bring surrounding residents some reassurance that we are committed to tackling and disrupting this type of behaviour using every power available to us.

“Officers will be working with our partners to ensure the three-month closure is fully enforced.

“For us to continue to tackle anti-social behaviour and drug supply issues within our communities, we need anyone experiencing any issues with these types of offences to get in touch with us and make a report. You can do this by visiting our website or by calling 101.”
