Carlisle United have extended a loan period for two of their youngsters currently with Workington.
Jake Allan and Dan Hopper will now be staying with the NPL Premier Division club for the rest of the season.
That will come as welcome news to Reds boss Billy Barr, a former coach at Carlisle, as he has been looking at a depleted squad of late.
Allan has his own injury issues, coming off very early in the game at Cleethorpes recently, after other problems with knocks have curtailed game time.
Dav Symington is out for at least two months as he waits for a knee operation while another senior player Steve Rigg is also waiting for an operation and playing through the pain barrier.
Steve Swinglehurst, another senior player, has to be looked after carefully because of an old injury while one of the youn brigade, Luke Ellis suffered a leg injury on New Year’s Day against Lancaster City.
On top of those set-backs, it looks as though Reds have lost the services of centre-back Tyler Magliore who is close to a deal with a Scottish Championship side.
Brad Carroll, recently returned to the club, was sent off in the Lancaster game and is looking at a three match ban while Charlie Barnes is half-way through his four-game suspension.
Reds are back in action on Saturday when they travel to Whitby Town and Barr is hoping to have at least one new face in the squad by then.
