Emergency services have been called to a three-vehicle collision near Cockermouth.
Police said they were called at around 5.55pm to Waterloo Lane, near the A5086 yesterday, Wednesday January 7.
The road was closed from Hotchberry Brow to the Cockermouth roundabout on the A66.
Police said it was expected to be closed for some time.
The Coastguard helicopter attended the scene.
Drivers were asked to avoid the area and use alternative routes.
The road has since reopened.
