Workington Reds failed in another appeal against a red card with Brad Carroll the latest player to be sent off.
Carroll, on his first game back at Borough Park on New Year’s Day received a straight red late on against Lancaster with the visitors equalising in the seventh minute pof time added on.
It followed a previous appeal against Charlie Barnes’ sending off which resulted in his ban being extended from three to four games.
The red card for Carroll was considered extremely harsh especially when Lancaster’s Christian Sloan was shown an early yellow card for what many considered a much worse tackle.
Reds manager Billy Barr said: “We appealed the sending off with evidence from a few angles highlighting there was no contact with the Lancaster player.
“Once again we have lost an appeal and as a football club we seem to be on the receiving end of some very poor decisions at the moment. I’m hoping something changes soon.”
Tuesday night’s training at Newton Rigg was cancelled because of the state of the pitch they use, but hopefully will be back on tonight.
Barr will be assessing his squad with Steven Rigg and Luke Ellis the ones carrying injuries.
Rigg’s is a permanent problem as he awaits an operation, but played against advice on New Year’s Day while Ellis was the victim of the dubious challenge from Sloan against Lancaster.
“I will see how Rigg feels tonight but after a week without doing much I’m expecting the swelling on his knee will have gone down.
“I’m also expecting to hear from Tyler (Magliore) on things are progressing with him. He’s still hoping something full-time will come in. It’s quite frustrating for him as he has to wait for managers to move others on which proves quite difficult. He may well be with us on Saturday,” said Barr.
Reds travel to Whitby for their latest NPL Premier Division game and so far the manager has had no luck with his search for new recruits to bolster the fight to get away from the drop zone.
