A West Cumbrian family has launched a fundraising appeal after their son suffered life-changing injuries in a collision this week.
Daniel Graham 30, of Cockermouth, was involved in a three-vehicle incident close to the A5086 near the town on Wednesday at around 5.55pm.
Daniel, a police officer with the Civil Nuclear Constabulary, was airlifted to a Newcastle following the collision.
He is currently in intensive care.
His mum Joanne said: “Our son, Dan, has been involved in a serious accident that has left him with life-changing injuries.
“The last few days have been overwhelming, frightening, and filled with uncertainty.
“Dan is a strong, kind, and much-loved son, and we are holding on to hope as he receives the best possible care.
“Right now, our sole focus is being by Dan’s side and supporting him through this critical period. As you can imagine, this situation brings not only emotional strain but also significant financial pressure.”
The family have set up an online fundraiser with GoFundMe and are asking people for their support.
Joanne added: “Travel costs, accommodation near the hospital, time away from work, and the ongoing expenses that come with long-term recovery quickly add up.
“We are setting up this GoFundMe to help ease some of that burden, so we can concentrate fully on Dan’s recovery without the constant worry of how we will manage financially.”
Any money raised will go towards medical-related expenses and rehabilitation needs, supporting Dan during his recovery journey ahead, travel costs for the family and covering loss of income.
