A cancer charity has been given a £60,000 grant to support services for children and young people affected by a cancer diagnosis or bereavement.
The St James’s Place Charitable Foundation will donate £60,000 over two years to support service delivery and salary costs associated with CancerCare’s Re-Fresh project.
Re-Fresh works with children and young people aged five to 17 who are bereaved or affected by cancer.
Overseen by a team of experienced youth workers, the peer support groups provide a safe, non-judgemental space for young people to meet others their own age who are experiencing similar challenges, while encouraging regular mental health check-ins.
St James’s Place is one of the UK’s largest advice-led wealth management firms.
Chartered financial planner David Makin, director of DGM Financial Planning Ltd, has supported the charity for many years and has been actively involved in several of CancerCare’s corporate fundraising events.
The St James’s Place Charitable Foundation is a UK-registered charity founded by St James’s Place.
CancerCare Chief Executive Officer Alison Stainthorpe said: “We are delighted to receive this generous support from the St James’s Place Charitable Foundation. Funding for our Re-Fresh project will enable us to continue providing vital emotional and mental health support to children and young people at some of the most difficult times in their lives, ensuring they are never alone in their experiences.”
