A Lake District Lucy Pittaway gallery will close later this year.
The artist’s Bowness-on-Windermere venue will close in the next couple of months.
The firm said rising overhead costs, as experienced by many businesses across the UK, played a significant role in making the decision.
The gallery, on Lake Road, opened in 2024.
It said it was an incredibly difficult decision to make and it will also close its Harrogate gallery.
A restructuring process of the operational functions at the business’s Brompton-on-Swale headquarters has also begun, and a consultation process with two staff whose roles at risk of redundancy is underway.
Other galleries, including its Keswick venue, are not affected.
Lucy, who is also managing director, said: “We are very saddened to share this news. It has been an incredibly difficult decision to make, and one which has not been taken lightly.
“We, like so many other retail businesses across the UK, have faced ongoing and significantly increased operational costs in recent years. We would like to thank our colleagues for all of their hard work and, of course, our customers for their support at both galleries. It has been so very gratefully appreciated.”
Both galleries will now host closing down sales in the coming weeks, with a 30% reduction on all stock.
