The latest instalment of the 28 Days Later franchise is out in cinemas after filming took place in Cumbria.
The star was spotted back in 2024 filming near Ennerdale Water. He was wearing injury special effects make-up on his face and dressed in baggy green trousers and a knitted green military surplus-style jumper.
Cillian was seen on a public path in the area, in the same place the final scenes of the franchise’s first film, 28 Days Later, were filmed in 2001.
A house near Bowness Knott, believed to have been featured in the first film, was also seen covered in set dressing including boarded-up fencing and fake foliage.

Camera and lighting equipment was also spotted alongside crew working both inside and outside the house and shouts of ‘rolling!’ could be heard as well as gun-shot sound effects. Special effects equipment was also spotted on a public path in the area.
Large trucks carrying filming equipment as well as mobile dressing rooms, a mobile café and facilities for child actors were also set up in the area.
Set in the same world created by 28 Days Later, The Bone Temple is a continuation of the story of 28 Years Later, which was released last year.
Created by Danny Boyle and directed by Nia DaCosta and written by Alex Garland, the film continues the stories of Dr Kelson played by Ralph Fiennes who makes a discovery that could ‘alter the world’ and Spike, played by Alfie Williams, who is inducted into Jimmy Crystal’s gang on the mainland.
The Bone Temple is out in cinemas across Cumbria now.
