Two of the region’s teams are in action tonight with Holker Old Boys in particular keen to catch up a backlog of fixtures in NW Counties Division One North.
Penrith are also playing in the Northern League Division One with a long trek to Thornaby.
Holker were denied an important win on Saturday when visitors MSB Woolton scored in the fifth minute of time added on at the end to make it 2-2.
That left the Barrovians 12th in the table, and alongside Nelson the only two sides who have not completed half their fixtures.
They have several games in hand of the others.
Tonight they host Daisy Hill who are two places and four points behind them from two more games.
Holker will have to keep an eye on Daisy Hill’s teenage striker Liam Sheppard who was recently presented with his First Division North Player of the Month award for October 2025.
This presentation has been delayed due to postponements and unavailability, but league ambassador Ian Templeman was at their game last Saturday to hand over the award.
The 18-year old striker came through the ranks at Atherton Collieries, scoring a brace on his senior Colls debut last season after impressing in the Colls Youth Team.
He joined Daisy Hill midway through last season on duel registrations, and has remained at the club into this season.
Sheppard enjoyed a great run of form during October, scoring seven goals in four games when Daisy Hill were unbeaten.
In the Northern League Penrith will be looking to make swift amends for Saturday’s 2-1 home defeat by Newcastle Benfield.
Manager Jim Nichols admitted his side were poor in what turned out to be a scrappy game and he is expecting a response tonight.
Penrith are 14th, two places and seven points better-off than their hosts who have played one less game.
