Ex-Workington rider Fraser Bowes faces a race against time to be fit for the new UK season after an unfortunate run of incidents in Australia.
Bowes has joined Poole, the defending Cab Direct Championship holders for the 2026 campaign after making his British debut last season with the Comets.
However he missed his national title series due to a crash just before it got underway.
Then he came to grief last weekend in Mildura, suffering a broken scapula which is currently being assessed.
Bowes said: “At the moment I’m in a waiting period to determine whether surgery is needed. We’ll know more in about a week once we can see if the bone has moved or dropped.
“It’s obviously very frustrating to have a break this close to the season, but we’re doing absolutely everything possible to get me ready for the first match in April.”
