Workington Reds will be boosted for this afternoon’s game at Prescot by the return of experienced midfielder Brad Carroll.
The former Reds player, who had only just returned at the end of December, was sent off in the New Year’s Dag game with Lancaster City.
A subsequent appeal failed and he has missed the subsequent games through suspension but is clear to play tomorrow.
Manager Billy Barr said: “It will be good to have Brad back with us and I’m hoping Isaac Whitehall will be available as well. Work commitments have reduced his possible appearances, including last week.”
But like last week there will be no Tyler Magliore who has been offered a deal with League one strugglers Port Vale under his old Northampton boss Jon Ryan.
“We wish him well. That was the arrangement, he played for us to get himself match fit and then hopefully he would earn himself a contract with a League club, which was his target,” said Barr.
Prescot announced towards the end of last year that they had financial issues and there were wage cuts, but it hasn’t affected their form, which has actually picked-up.
They are third in the current form table over the last five games and included was a mid-week 3-0 win over promotion chasing Warrington Rylands.
Reds have 14 League games left to play and are ten points short of safety so every fixture is now a Cup final for Barr’s men – battling to survive.
After three successive draws, and good performances in each, they dropped in standards last Saturday losing 1-0 at home to Hebburn.
“That wasn’t good enough, especially after how we’ve been playing, and we have to get back to that at Prescot because they are in form,” said Barr.
