A Cumbrian accountant has raised £10,000 for Blood Bikes in 2025.
David Allen chose Blood Bikes Cumbria and Dumfries & Galloway Blood Bikes as its charity of the year for the last 12 months.
Established and run by volunteers, the charity operates as a medical courier service, delivering essential blood and medical supplies free of charge 24/7, 365 days a year for Dumfries & Galloway NHS and out of hours for Cumbria Health along with blood supply for the Great North Air Ambulance.
Chairman James White, of Blood Bikes Cumbria, said: “We are incredibly appreciative of the fantastic work David Allen has done for us, raising awareness and funds for the Blood Bikes is vital for us to keep our services running.
“Without this support we know that local community with rural locations would begin to struggle, the service we provide to doctors from local doctor’s surgeries is what allows us to continue to save lives ensuring limited resources of the NHS can be used where it makes a difference.
“Without their support we wouldn’t be able to offer our services, so we are extremely thankful.”
Through activities such as book sales, rugby days, bake sales, quiz nights and more, the fundraising campaign had everyone at David Allen involved whether that was
through participation or generosity.
Alison Welton, managing partner at David Allenm said: “We are really proud to share that we have successfully raised £10,000 for Blood Bikes Cumbria and Dumfries & Galloway Blood Bikes.
“This accomplishment reflects our genuine desire to make a positive impact to an important charity which is funded completely by donations, but it also highlights the remarkable kindness and generosity shown by our team, clients, and wider community. We are hugely grateful to everyone who played a part in achieving this.”
Dave Hook, chairman of Dumfries & Galloway Blood Bikes, said: “It has been an absolute honour to work with the team at David Allen over the past year, raising awareness and funds through events such as the Dumfries Show and the Charity Rugby Match at Dumfries Rugby Club in support of the Saints.
“Support from local businesses like David Allen is vital to what we do. Without it, providing lifesaving support to NHS patients across Dumfries & Galloway, their families, and our communities would be far more challenging.
“The funds raised will go a long way in helping us keep our service running. We are incredibly grateful to their staff and clients for their generosity and continued support from everyone at Dumfries & Galloway Blood Bikes.”
