The Women’s Rugby World Cup, won by England last year for the first time since 2014, is coming to Cumbria.
On a tour of the country, the coveted trophy will be in the county later this month, calling at four Cumbrian clubs.
However, the message is clear that any other club in the county will be welcomed at the four events, as there are going to be special coaching sessions as well.
The trophy arrives in the county on Thursday, February 19 at Pennine Park, home of Upper Eden and will be there from 11am to 2pm.
Alongside the trophy there will be a host of free rugby sessions. There will be tag rugby sessions for under-7s and 8s, boys sessions for under-9s to under-12s and girls sessions for under-9s to under-16s.
Refreshments will be available in the clubhouse and everyone is welcome.
It moves to Keswick from 4pm to 8pm and there will be an open girls training session at 3pm to 5.30pm with all county clubs invited to send players.
After an overnight stay in Keswick there’s a Ready 2 Ref Course for women only at 9.30am to 10.15am before the trophy party moves to Penrith from 11am to 1.30pm before going on to Kirkby Lonsdale from 3pm to 5pm.
