In Workington Reds situation tomorrow’s home game with Morpeth Town is a must win – but recent history is not in their favour.
This will only be the sixth time the clubs have met in the Northern Premier League and Reds are still looking for their first victory.
The three away games at Craik Park have produced three straight defeats with Reds not even managing to score in any of them.
The most recent, in October ended 2-0.
Both previous clashes at Borough Park finished in 2-2 draws and our only win against the Highwaymen came in an FA Trophy tie last season.
Morpeth are not on a good run, with only one win in their last six games, but like Reds are fighting for their lives.
The difference is that they are five points better off than Billy Barr’s men even though they have lost two more games than Reds – but have won twice as many games.
That stat would be a lot different had Reds not thrown away 16 points through shipping late goals.
Barr said: “We had a really good training session on Thursday night when we reminded the lads afterwards how far they’ve come as a group.
“We have to continue believing in the process to improve our results further.
“We have no new faces at the moment and this will be a tough game for obvious reasons even though Morpeth have only won once in six.
“Once again we will be looking for the backing of our fans who have been absolutely magnificent despite our struggles this season.”
