Maryport Pool League leaders Sun Inn Sharks travelled to Elbra B looking to extend their great start to the season.

David Wilson took the first frame in a tactical affair, digging deep to produce the two shots required and this seemed to set the pattern.

Jobby Dunn was also involved in a long tactical frame in which he also came out on top to make it 2-0 to the Sharks.

Skipper Mel Scott then made it 3-0 in a more attacking frame before Luke Kershaw secured the victory for the Sharks as he made it 4-0.

Elbra B took all three doubles to make the final score 4-3 with the Sharks knocking all three blacks in from fouls.

Back in the Sun Inn at Aspatria it was derby night as the Ballers took on the Cannons and it was one way traffic.

The more experienced Ballers took a 6-0 lead with Gary Miller, Greg Todd, Willy Armstrong and Johnny Gray all on top form. It included an eight ball win from Gary Miller in the first double.

Tommi Allan and Lewis Fisher earend a consolation point for the Cannons in the last to end the match 6-1.

Butchers A took on Elbra C and lost the opening frame to David McCracken who still remains unbeaten in his singles.

Kevin Gartland made it 1-1 before Elbra again took the lead via Darren Rowley but that was as good as it got for Elbra as Butchers upped their game to win 5-2.

Scott Atherton took the final single to level the game, followed by doubles victories for Scott Iverson and Gartland, George Close and Atherton and Gartland and Atherton.

Swan Inn played host to Maryport Rugby Club A and dominated the game with David Holliday the sole winner for the Rugby Club.

Stephen Pattinson, Matty Mattocks and David Miller had singles wins with Matty and Cam Quayle, Dirk Mortimer and Carl Daley and Stephen Pattinson and Gareth Pattinson with doubles securing an impressive 6-1 win for the Swan.

Butchers B took a 2-0 lead against Elbra A through Simon Marr and Lee Hodgson but Jason Thompson and Andrew Henderson then levelled the match for Elbra A.

When they took the first two doubles via John McCracken and Aaron Rowley and Tony Lambert and Henderson it confirmed another defeat for the Butchers who, after this 4-3 defeat, are still searching for their first win of the season.

Maryport Bowling Club v Maryport Social went the way of the home team as Anthony Brough, Jason Miller and Paul Kirkbride put them 3-1 up. Liam Holm had the Social’s single win.

Kevin Henderson and Adlee pulled another back to make it 3-2 before the Bowling Club took the remaining doubles to win 5-2 via Kirkbride and McCallig and then Brough and Miller to end their losing streak.

Sun Inn faced Grasslot Welfare and it was the Dearham side who took the lead through Callum Casson. Danny Dryden then made it 2-0 to put them in control but Grasslot struck back with Keith Anderson and Trevor Bethwaite making it all square.

Grasslot took the first double with Richard and Barry Shearman bossing the table and the points were then confirmed as Anderson and Bethwaite made it 4-2 before the final frame went to the home side via Dryden and Adam Short resulting in a 4-3 win for Grasslot.

Maryport Rugby League B continue to impress as just five games in they’ve already matched last season’s points tally beating Glasson Rangers 5-2.

Wins for Tyler Beales, Robbie Pattinson and then all three doubles secured the three points. Kieran Hughes and Dean Petre were the points scorers for Glasson.

Despite Glasson’s tough start to the season Petre has won five out of five so far.
