
A Maryport man has been jailed for supplying cocaine in the town.
Grant Wilson, 34, of Alne Road, appeared at Carlisle Crown Court on March 13 and was jailed for two years and three months.
The court heard in January 2024 Wilson was stopped in his vehicle by Allerdale Neighbourhood Policing Team on the town’s Buttermere Road.
He was searched and officers located a bag of solid white substance, snap bags, snap bags containing white powder and two phones.
One of the phones was a burner phone.
Testing of the substances identified the powder as cocaine. Messages found on the burner phone were in relation the supply of drugs.
Community Beat Officer for Maryport, PC Sam Steele said “Wilson was targeted following information reported to the police that he was actively supplying cocaine in Maryport.
“The amount of cocaine found on him and messages on his phone confirmed the information received by police.
“We urge anyone with information on drug activities within our community to report information to us.
“This allows us to put those individuals exploiting and putting our communities at harm before the courts.”
