A Cumbrian man has been charged with gross negligence manslaughter following the death of eight-year-old Jay Cartmell.
Jay died following an incident near Warcop on September 28 2024.
The eight-year-old died after serious head injuries in the incident, which involved the discharge of a firearm on land not far from the A66, north of Warcop.
Allan Thursby, 64, of Dent Place, Cleator Moor, was arrested on September 28 2024 and has been on police bail since.
Today, March 16, he was charged with gross negligence manslaughter.
He was bailed to appear at Carlisle Magistrates’ Court on March 26.
