A determined team of trekkers has raised £62,000 for St Mary’s Hospice after successfully climbing Mount Meru and Mount Kilimanjaro in January.
The group, including members of the clinical team, took on the ambitious dual-summit challenge to support the vital work of the hospice, which provides care and support for patients and families across South Cumbria.
Battling high altitudes, tough terrain, and demanding conditions, the team’s efforts have now resulted in a remarkable fundraising total that will make a meaningful difference.
The team was Katie Eddy, Paula Rees, Grant and Adele Dixon, Tracy Barrow, Matt Coulton, Dan Sayle, Cath Rogerson, Laura Cartwright and Trudi Coulthar.
Mel Dixon, events and challenges manager at St Mary’s Hospice, said: “We are incredibly proud of the team to have completed this challenge and even more proud they chose to support St Mary’s Hospice with this fundraising total.
“The experience was unforgettable, but what truly matters is the difference this money will make to people who need care and support. We are so grateful to everyone who donated and supported the team along the way.”

The funds raised will go directly towards helping St Mary’s Hospice continue its essential services, ensuring patients and their loved ones receive the highest standard of care during difficult times.
