A man has appeared in court charged with the rape of a 16-year-old girl.
Cumbria police were called at around 1am on Friday March 20, to Brampton.
Peter Bennett, 54, of Croft Road, Brampton, has been charged with rape and sexual assault by penetration.
He appeared at Carlisle Magistrates’ Court yesterday, Saturday March 21 and has been remanded until his next court appearance at Carlisle Crown Court on April 20.
The victim is being supported by specialist officers at this time.
Detectives are appealing for anyone with information about this incident who has yet to come forward to do so.
Officers would like to hear from anyone who was in the area of Sawmill Lane and Stanley Road at around 1am on Friday who may be able to help.
