Travel back in time at Beamish Museum to discover how Easter was celebrated in the 1820s, early 1900s, 1940s and 1950s with a whole host of egg-citing activities.
Take part in The Great Bunny Hunt in The 1900s Town – can you find all 12 Easter bunnies?
Enjoy a site-wide family trail, have a go at egg rolling in The 1900s Town on Easter Saturday, Easter Sunday and Easter Monday and see traditional baking demonstrations each day of Easter weekend including Simnel cake, chocolate eggs and hot cross buns.
In addition to the event, visitors can discover an amazing journey through time at the open air museum, which was named Art Fund Museum of the Year 2025, the world’s largest museum prize.

Stroll through the stunning 1820s Landscape and sample Georgian delights at the Drovers Tavern.

Take an underground tour of the coal mine in The 1900s Pit Village, brave a trip to the dentist in The 1900s Town and have your photo taken in the Edwardian photographer’s studio (additional charge applies to this activity).

Meet the 1940s Land Girls and Home Guard, visit the 1950s cinema and toy shop, explore the 1950s farm and so much more!

Beamish, The Living Museum of the North, which was founded in 1970, brings the region’s history to life at 1820s Pockerley, 1900s Town, 1900s Pit Village, 1940s Farm, 1950s Town and 1950s Spain’s Field Farm.
The museum is the North East’s most visited attraction and among the top paid-for attractions nationally, with 838,632 visitors in 2024.

Beamish is open until March 27 from Wednesday to Sunday, 10am to 4pm. From March 28 to October 23 it is open daily, 10am to 5pm.
