Workington Reds in the Community teams played at Blackburn Rovers yesterday and it turned into an unforgettable trip.
The travelling group was made up of Under-8s, Under-9s and Under-10s, who did themselves proud on the field.
They won all of their games and were superb ambassadors for the Workington club, but the players and their accompanying parents had a special time off the field.
They bumped into former England and Man United star Wayne Rooney and his wife Colleen who had been there to watch one of their sons playing for United in an Academy game earlier against Blackburn.
Brian Dawson, head of RITC, said: “They were excellent, taking time to chat, pose for pics and sign shirts.

“Our young players and their parents really enjoyed the experience.”
Rooney, after a failed managerial spell on his retirement, is building a new career in punditry and both he and Colleen are keen supporters of their sons’ football careers.
