A 17-year-old is due to appear in court later today after being charged with two counts of robbery following incidents at two Carlisle city centre shops early yesterday afternoon.
The 17-year-old was arrested after police were made aware of incidents at stores in the English Street area shortly after noon.
A male was reported to have been carrying a bladed article. Nobody was reported to have been injured.
The teen faces three charges. Two of these allege that he robbed shop workers of boxed iPhone 17 devices, worth £999 and £900, on April 7. A third charge alleges possession of an offensive weapon — a knife — in the area of Fisher Street.
The teenager, who has a Scottish address, is due to appear at Carlisle Magistrates’ Court this afternoon.
